30-Day Processing SLA

Once your deletion request is verified, all personal identifiable information (PII) including your account credentials, security hash, and saved preferences will be permanently wiped from active databases within 30 days.

Tabb is a dual-party shared record keeping ledger (e.g. debt transactions between two users, Chama group tallies, and merchant store tabs).

Regulatory Retention Notice

In accordance with GDPR Article 17(3)(b)/(e) and local financial record laws, data tied to transactions with other active users or entities cannot be unilaterally deleted without corrupting counterparty records.

  • Deleted: Your personal profile, name, phone credentials, PIN hashes, and push notification tokens.
  • Anonymized: Debts where another party is involved will remain on the ledger, but your identity will be permanently anonymized (e.g., replaced with "Deleted User").
  • Financial Compliance: Completed M-Pesa transaction receipts are retained for 7 years as mandatory for tax and anti-fraud auditing.

Data Deletion Policy & Legal Terms

1. Scope of Data Deletion

When you submit an account deletion request through this portal, Tabb initiates an automated process to purge your personal data. This includes your user account record, PIN authentication hashes, contact numbers, mobile device tokens, and preference settings.

2. Retention of Correlated / Counterparty Ledger Data

Tabb operates as a collaborative ledger allowing users to track shared financial debts, Chama dues, shop balances, and restaurant splits. When a debt involves a counterparty (another user or registered business), deleting that transaction outright would unilaterally alter the financial records of the secondary party.

Under GDPR Article 17(3)(b) and 17(3)(e) (Exceptions for freedom of expression, information, legal claims, and statutory compliance), Tabb reserves the right to retain transactional logs by replacing all references to your name and contact info with anonymized markers (e.g. "Former User"). The underlying transaction amounts and dates remain visible to counterparties to ensure integrity of their accounting.

3. Statutory Financial & Tax Retention

Any payment transaction records generated through M-Pesa Daraja or third-party payment providers are subject to Kenyan tax laws and anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, requiring financial audit trails to be maintained for up to 7 years. These records are isolated, encrypted, and accessible only for statutory compliance.

4. Processing Timeframe (30 Days)

In accordance with Google Play Store Developer Guidelines, requests are processed within a maximum period of 30 calendar days from submission. Users receive a confirmation code upon form submission and will be notified via SMS upon fulfillment.
